<b>Overview : </b>Mount Lesung, - or Gunung Lesung - in North Bali is decorated with three lakes, which are: Lake Buyan , Lake Beratan and Lake Tamblingan, where nature has been kept almost untouched.  All three lakes are the life-source for the surrounding communities.<br />

If you want to see monkeys playing on the road, take the second route. Here you will also find roadside cafes. Rest here and enjoy an invigorating hot cup of coffee in the cool mountain air.<br />

<b>Get There</b><br />
Lake  Tamblingan is located near. Lake Bedugul that can be reached pass  three-pronged cross road that lead to the villages of  Munduk and  Gobleg. Two routes are recommended. The first passes Lake Bedugul, then continues straight on until you will see on the  left side  of the road  an entry gate that leads to Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan. Drive through this g<br />

<b>To Eat</b><br />
As in other parts of  Bali, the village of  Munduk offers the Balinese lawar, chicken and ares vegetables made of soft chopped  banana stem, which are usually on the daily menu of local restaurants.  Karangsari Restaurant is one of the more recommended.</div>

<b>Lake Ranau</b> is the second largest lake on Sumatra. It was formed by a major earthquake and vulcanic eruption. A big river which previously flowed at the foot of the vulcanic mountain then filled the ravine. Various types of plants incuding bushes locally known as ranau, then grew by the lake and while the remains of the mountain became Mount Seminung, which currently stands tall beside the clean lake water.</div>

This lake is located by the border of Lampung Barat district in Lampung province and Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Selatan district in South Sumatra and has cool weather. To enter this lake, visitors need to pay Rp 1.000 (about 10 cents US) per person plus Rp 4.000 (40 cents US) for parking.</div>

Marisa Island is located in the middle of the lake. It has a natural hot water spring. Visitors are charged Rp 1,500 per person. The island also has a waterfall and extensive rice paddy fields, and most of its land is covered by forests with primates.</div>

To travel around this 44 square kilometer lake (about 10872 acres), visitors can take a motor boat, locally known as a ketek. The rates vary from Rp 100.000 to Rp 250.000 (about 9-23  US Dollars), depending on whether or not you want to travel around the lake. To see the waterfall, you should take land transportation.</div>

Located off the West coast of Sumatra, the Mentawai archipelago includes four municipalities, Siberut, Sipora, North Pagai and South Pagai. is the biggest of the Siberut islands and remains largely covered with tropical rainforest. From the moment you arrive on and see the white coral beaches, ancient rainforests and hear the cheeky black gibbons playing in the trees you’ll find it hard to resist falling in love with the place. This Siberut island is home to a rich array of bio-diversity which has earned it designation as a UNESCO biosphere reserve.<br />

The remote location of these islands means that the Mentawai people have had very little contact with the outside world. The archipelogo is thought to have broken off from the rest of Sumara about 500,000 years ago and it is only since the 20th century that outside influences began to have an impact on the local people. Today, the Mentawai still abide by traditional practices and live largely off the land. Local people have a strong spiritual relationship with the forest with a belief system that emphasizes harmony with creation.<br />

It is believed people first came to inhabit these islands at least several thousand years ago. Most anthropologists classify the Mentawai people as Protomalay which means they have a mostly Neotlithic culture but have not been effected by Buddhism, Islam or Hinduism.<br />

Tatoos are an important symbol in Mentawai culture and reflect maturity, manhood and status. The art of this body painting has been inherited from ancient ancestors and the ink is made from natural fibres.<br />
<br />
The biggest town on Siberut is Muara Siberut on the southeast coast. This is the major point of entry for tour groups from the mainland. From here, you can travel with a with a local guide and trek inland to some of the Mentawai villages. If your bahasa is good enough, chat to the locals and enjoy their hospitality.<br />

West Sumatra has discovered  a new Destination for Divers : the Mandeh Islands, located in the south- west of the Province, in the Regency of Pesisir Selatan (the Southern Coast), located some 65 km from the province’s capital city, Padang.<br /><br />Viewed from a vantage point on shore one can see dozens of picturesque islands scattered over crystal clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean.<br /><br />“There are no less than 8 dive spots around Mandeh, located in the north of the islands of Cubadak, Pagang, Seronjok and others. There is also a wreck of a Dutch ship, ideal for divers to explore at a depth of 27 meters”, said H. Nasrul Abit, Regent of the Pesisir Selatan. There are also many locations for snorkeling or boating around the islands. Costing only around Rp. 350,000 for a whole day boat rental, visitors can enjoy a perfect holiday.  <br /><br /><br />Next to these  are other smaller islands to explore like Setan Kecil, Setan Besar and Pulau Nyamuk perfect for swimming as the waters are reasonably calm there.  <br /><br />The local government plans to set up the infrastructure and invites investors to build tourist facilities and attractions.<br /><br /> Meanwhile, Minister for National Planning, Andrinof Chaniago said that indeed the national government together with the provincial government of West Sumatra plan to develop the Mandeh shore and islands as an integrated tourist resort. <br /><br />The road to the beach from Padang is nearly completed, which needs  only two more years to finish. Even now there are already small hotels  along this route for those who wish to stay overnight.<br /><br /><br />President Joko Widodo is expected to launch the development of the Mandeh Resort in June this year. </div>
